Dr.Sivalingam Sivananthan, a distinquished old boy of Jaffna Hindu College (1968 -75) and currently professor of physics at the University of Illinois Chicago and founder of Sivananthan Laboratories in Bolingbrook, USA, has been named a White House Champion of Change, an honour that recognizes immigrant entrepreneurs. He was given this honor at a ceremony at the White House on May 29th 2013.
Last Monday, May 27th 2013 was the day scheduled for the Battle of Blues as it was a bank holiday in UK, and the organizers expected to have a great cricket encounter between Jaffna Hindu and Hartley OBA.
யாழ் இந்து கல்லூரி ஸ்ரீ சிவஞான பைரவர் ஆலய மூன்றாவது மஹா கும்பாபிஷேகம் (Maha Kumbabishegam) இன்று மிக சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்றது. இன்று அதிகாலை ஐந்து மணியளவில் ஆரம்பமாகிய மகா கும்பாபிஷேகம் மதியம் அன்னதானத்துடன் இனிது நிறைவேறியது.
யாழ்ப்பாணம் இந்துக் கல்லூரி வளாகத்தில் இருந்து அருளாட்சி புரியும் சிவஞானப் பெருமானின் திருக்கோயில் கும்பாபிஷேகம் மே மாதம் 29 திகதி மிகவும் சிறப்பான முறையில் ஆலயத்தில் நடைபெறவிருக்கின்றது. இதனை முன்னிட்டு பலதிருப்பணி வேலைகள் தற்போது துரிதமாக நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன.
யாழ் இந்து கல்லூரி மற்றும் கொழும்பு இந்து கல்லூரி அணிகளுக்கு இடையிலான மாபெரும் துடுப்பாட்ட சமர் முதல் நாள் முழுவதும் மழையால் கழுவப்பட இரண்டாம் நாள் மட்டும் நடந்து வெற்றி தோல்வியின்றி முடிவடைந்தது.ஒருநாள் ஆட்டம் என்றாலும் யாழ் இந்து கல்லூரி தனது முத்திரையை பதிக்க தவறவில்லை.
Para Saimaruhan, an old boy of Jaffna Hindu College (AL 1992) and currently living in UK, will be running in the Bracknell Half Marathon (13.1 miles) on Sunday 28th April to raise money for the Jaffna Hindu College Association UK Charity.
அண்மையில் யாழ் இந்து மகளிர் கல்லூரியில் வடமாகாண பாடசாலைகளுக்கிடையில் சதுரங்கச் சுற்றுப் போட்டிகள் நடைபெற்றன. இப் போட்டியில் யாழ் இந்துக் கல்லூரி சார்பாக 15, 19 வயதுப்பிரிவு அணிகள் பங்குபற்றியிருந்தன. இதில் யாழ் இந்து 15 வயதுப்பிரிவு சதுரங்க அணி மாகாண ரீதியில் முதலாம் இடத்தினை பெற்றுக் கொண்டது
இந்துக்களின் மாபெரும் போர் எனப் பெருமையாக அழைக்கப்படும் யாழ்ப்பாணம் இந்துக் கல்லூரி அணிக்கும், கொழும்பு இந்து கல்லூரி அணிக்குமிடையிலான கிரிக்கெட் தொடர் மீண்டும் ஆரம்பிக்கவுள்ளது.
