My tribute to one of our best friends - Ramesh.

I first met Ramesh in 1985, at a pre-ragging time, in Jaffna and he was such a remarkable personality - very humble and soft spoken.

We shared a bed sheet together in Vavuniya Town hall when we had to stay overnight in one of the first few trips we had together to Peradeniya. Since then, he had been not only a wonderful friend, but also a caring and thoughtful human being. Thereafter, we had many fond memories.

He is brilliant, not bothered about what others are doing. While some of us were in England, doing our undergraduate studies, he focused on what he really wanted to become. He became very successful in what he did.
He, along with MP(Piratheepan) visited us, me and Raty, when we were at the Manchester University.

He was a good cook too; we together cooked and had lots of fun that night.

Last I saw Ramesh, in 2009, with Kumara, MP (Piratheepan) and Joy (Poornachandra). We had couple of beers, called to Niranjan from the restaurant, and tried to call Rati. We talked a range of subjects: from Peradeniya lives to Politics back home; our careers interests to our children’s interests.

Healthwise, he looked great; I did not see anything different with him, other than some grey hairs.

What a tragedy has struck us! No only did we lose a best friend, but also indeed his demise shattered all our strength for a moment.

We will miss him a lot!

But, we are sure that Ramesh would not want us to be sad forever; instead, he would want us to think of the good times and move on. Let's do what he would have wanted us to do. Good memories and moments we shared with him are still lingering within us,

True, Kumara and others who live in London, will miss him more than many of us, but, even though miles apart, we too will miss him dearly.

In this time of great sorrow and sadness, our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

May we all gather strength from Life's storm! May the soul of our dear friend, Ramesh, rest in peace.

Ramesh, born 1966 was a brilliant student and was extra ordinary in mathematics. I still remember his days he did marketing at Chavakacheri markets with his father Parameswaran master( Drieberg College).
Father did marketing and he will mentally calculate and tell his father how much to pay. All these at the age of 5. He could do all sorts of adding multiplications and divisions mentally.

Very pleasant, humble, soft spoken and caring person.

May his soul rest in peace
